Member of the Testore Family, Milan, ca. 1730.

Labelled: Nicolas filius Antonij Amati 1616

Single piece maple back of attractive, irregular figure, plain sides, 2 piece belly of fine grain. The neck and scroll later, after the style of Amati. The unoriginal paper label was glued over an earlier inscription (also unoriginal) directly on the timber of the back. Remains of a possibly original label still visible but illegible.

This instrument has been fully restored by Ian Watchorn and is in very good playing condition. A powerful and sonorous tone of great quality. Sold with a full restoration report and restoration photos.
